Before you start
Delete your account only if you want to end your login everywhere. If you want out of one workspace, ask an admin to remove you instead. See Leave a workspace. If you are the only Owner of a workspace that other people work in, you must hand it over first. The confirmation will not unlock until you have. How to delete your account
1
Open your profile
Click your name and picture at the foot of the sidebar, then choose Profile.
2
Scroll to Delete account
It is the last card on the Profile tab, below everything it would destroy.
3
Click Delete account
A dialog opens showing exactly what deleting would do to each workspace you belong to.
4
Answer every question the dialog asks
Pick a new owner where one is needed, and tick the consent box for any workspace that would be deleted with you. Until all of them are answered, the confirm button stays disabled.
5
Type your email address to confirm
The dialog shows your email address as a ready-to-copy string with a copy button. Paste or type it to unlock Delete my account.
6
Confirm
You are signed out and sent back to the sign-in screen.
What the dialog asks you
Every workspace you belong to falls into one of three cases.
If none of your workspaces need a decision, the dialog says so: nothing needs handing over, and you are removed from the workspaces you belong to.
When nobody can take a workspace over
Some workspaces have other people in them, but none who can own it. That happens when everyone else is a client contact, is deactivated, or has never signed in. The dialog says so and offers no picker. You have to fix it before you can delete: make someone an eligible owner in that workspace first. The server refuses the delete either way, so there is no way around it.What is erased
Your identity is scrubbed:- Your login. You can no longer sign in.
- Your name, including first and last name
- Your email address
- Your profile picture, both the uploaded one and the one from your sign-in provider
- The locale, timezone and date settings detected for you
- Every workspace membership you held
What is kept
Time and money records are the business’s records, not yours. They stay with each workspace so its books, reports and invoices still add up.
- Every time entry you tracked
- Your timesheets, including submitted and approved weeks
- Approvals you gave
- Invoices, payments and expenses you touched
- Tasks, comments and the audit trail
What else happens in each workspace
The same clean-up runs as when a member is removed:
The Owners and Admins of each workspace are told that you deleted your account, and who the new owner is where ownership moved.
What anyone who tries to reach the account sees
A deleted account says so. It does not fail quietly and it does not look like a mistyped address.- Anyone signing in with those credentials is told the account was deleted and that signing in again will not restore it.
- Signing up again with the same email address mints a fresh identity. Your old memberships, rates and history are not handed back.
- Being re-added to a roster by an admin does not resurrect the old account either. It creates a new one.
Example
Maya Ellis is the Owner of Northwind Studio and also a member of a second workspace she set up alone. She opens My profile, scrolls to Delete account and clicks it. The dialog shows two things:- Northwind Studio – she is the only Owner and eleven other people work there. She picks Tom Whitfield as the new owner.
- Her second workspace – nobody else is in it. She ticks the box agreeing it goes with her account.
Common questions
Can I get my account back?
Can I get my account back?
No. There is no undo and no grace period. Signing up again gives you a new account, not the old one.
Will my tracked time be deleted?
Will my tracked time be deleted?
No. Time entries, timesheets, approvals and invoices stay with each workspace and are credited to Deleted user. They are the business’s records.
Can an admin delete my account for me?
Can an admin delete my account for me?
No. This is self-service only. An admin can remove you from a workspace or switch your access off, but that ends a membership, not your account.
What if I only want to leave one workspace?
What if I only want to leave one workspace?
Ask an admin to remove you from that one. See Leave a workspace.
Does deleting my account cancel the workspace's subscription?
Does deleting my account cancel the workspace's subscription?
No. A workspace that carries on with a new owner keeps its plan. Only a workspace you explicitly agreed to delete goes away with you.
