Your own notification settings live on you, on the Notifications tab of your profile. Open /{workspaceSlug}/settings/profile and pick Notifications. The other notifications page, /{workspaceSlug}/settings/notifications, sets the workspace defaults for everyone. It is not where your personal choices live. If you open it without permission to manage the workspace, it points you back here.

Your settings, per workspace

Notification settings belong to one person in one workspace. If you belong to both Northwind Studio and another workspace, each keeps its own choices. Switch workspaces at /spaces.

What reaches you, and where

The first card is Your notifications: a grid of ten kinds of update against two channels. The ten rows are: Every cell starts switched on. You receive everything until you turn something off.
There is no Save button. A switch applies the moment you flip it. If the save fails, the switch flips back and an error appears.

How your choice meets the workspace default

The two levels behave differently, and the difference matters. When a reminder is off for the whole workspace, the control is disabled and says Switched off for the whole workspace.

Your daily reminders

The second card is Your daily reminders: three checks a day, all sent in your own timezone. Each has its own switch, so you can keep the morning check and drop the other two.

Setting a time

The morning and evening reminders each have a time field. Type a time and it saves.
  • While you have not chosen a time, the field reads Using the workspace time.
  • Once you choose one, a link appears: Use the workspace time (…). Click it to go back to inheriting.

When the deadline reminder arrives

The third reminder has no clock time of its own. It follows your working day, so it fires a set number of hours before you finish. Someone who stops at 14:00 and someone who stops at 18:00 both get “a few hours before I stop”, not the same hour. The choices are:
  • As the day ends
  • 1 hour before the day ends
  • 2 hours before the day ends
  • 3 hours before the day ends (the default)
  • 4 hours before the day ends
  • 6 hours before the day ends
Use the workspace timing (…) returns you to the workspace choice.
Reminders only arrive on days you work, and never while you are on approved leave. Your working day and your timezone both come from the schedule you are assigned. See Your work schedule.

Digests

Every notification reaches you as it happens. TimeTracker does not roll your updates into a daily or weekly digest unless digesting is turned on, and it is off for every category by default. Security and account notices are never held back or batched, whatever else is set. See Digests.

When an admin sets these for you

An admin with member.changeRole can open your member record and set your notification grid and your reminders from there. That is on your behalf, not a lock. What they set is your preference, and you can change any of it back from this page. The only setting you cannot raise is one the workspace has switched off.

Example

Sarah Lin at Northwind Studio wants fewer emails.
1

Open her settings

Sarah opens My profile, then the Notifications tab.
2

Turn off two email channels

In the grid she switches Email off for Budget alerts and for Invoices. She leaves In-app on for both, so she still sees them in her inbox.
3

Keep only the morning reminder

In Your daily reminders she switches Evening off and Before your day ends off. She keeps Morning and sets it to 07:30.
4

Nothing to save

Each change applies as she makes it.
Her morning check now arrives at 07:30 in her own timezone, on working days only.

Common questions

A few notices are mandatory. Security and account notices are always sent by email and ignore the grid, because losing one could cost you your account.
The workspace has switched that reminder off for everyone. The control is disabled and says so. Ask an admin to turn it back on at /settings/notifications.
No. Each workspace keeps its own settings for you.
They moved onto the person. Yours are here, on your profile. Anyone else’s are on their member record. /settings/notifications is now workspace defaults only.
Check the Email column in the grid first, then check the address on your profile is the one you read. See Email not arriving if it still does not turn up.
